You can only trade with other fractions if you have produced at least one tradable resource (iron, stone, wood, etc.) in one of your colonies and the fraction you want to trade with does not yet have it. The value of each resource is different (you can check it in the lower left corner of the diplomatic screen). Also, the amount of gold you earn through trading depends on the amount of resources you can produce (the more level of the building it can produce, the more gold you can earn with it). This is just one more symptom of the larger problem called Total War Diplomacy, something that has shown very little love and attention since the birth of CA. They even took the boats and cars of the poor little diplomacy on the campaign map. They waved the finger at diplomacy and also took trade routes. Nor have I ever seen evidence that more trade resources increase the likelihood that someone will agree to a trade deal. The diplomatic system here is very veiled. I have seen that political groups with +200 connections oppose profitable trade for them and political groups with +5 relationships accept the same trade.

On the left (your page), the user interface shows you how much money you make from trading and what resources you export to your trading partner. The right side shows how much money they make and what resources you import from them. Diplomacy in the game may not be as important as in other games of this genre, but it remains a fairly important aspect of the gameplay. Thanks to this, you will be able to trade with other factions, maintain friendly relations (or sign military treaties), or even integrate other factions into your kingdom. It also depends on the characteristics of the fraction. A faction like Kislev with passive property should under no circumstances trade with it. Factions can agree to trade with each other through diplomacy. A trade deal between two Beastmen factions, Greenskin and Warriors of Chaos cannot be traded. Each resource you export increases your faction`s revenue, while each imported resource increases your trading partner`s income. Unfortunately, you can`t decide which resources to send and which to receive.

In the late game, this causes situations where you can earn 100 gold from the exchange while the other faction 600 or more. However, it is still worth doing because you really don`t lose anything and trade increases relations with a faction. It works in a rather strange way. By sub-weaving a trade deal, you send all your resources to the faction you are negotiating with (except those the faction already owns) and vice versa. A simple example will help you understand it better: Tilea and Estalia are also very difficult to get as business partners, for reasons I can`t understand. Note: The Tomb Kings are the only faction that actually uses resources for their Death Cult mechanic (Edit: A similar mechanic called Forging has only been added for the Dwarves in Warhammer 2 since it originally posted this answer). For all other factions, resources only increase the value of trade agreements. So you`re generally right to assume that these resources aren`t actually used by the trading partner, but not in this particular example. In campaign mode, you can trade between two factions.

Trade deals can be made on the diplomatic screen, allowing factions to exchange trade resources and generate additional revenue for both factions. .
